Sasquatch vs Orangetheory: Which One Builds the Body You Actually Want?
Orangetheory is popular for good reasons. The classes are energetic, the format is simple, and you leave drenched and feeling like you earned it. If you are deciding between Orangetheory and Sasquatch Strength & Nutrition, the honest answer is that they are built for different goals. Neither is bad. They just aim at different results.
Here is a straight comparison so you can pick the one that matches what you actually want.
How each one trains you
Orangetheory is a heart-rate-based interval workout. You move between treadmill, rower, and floor work, and the goal is to spend time in higher heart-rate zones to burn calories during and after class. It is cardio-forward with some resistance mixed in.
Sasquatch is a strength and nutrition program. The core of what we do is progressive overload, adding weight and reps over time so you build real muscle and get measurably stronger. Our five workout types cover the full picture: Build for heavy compound lifts, Grind for muscular endurance, Skill for movement quality, Sprint for power, and Move for cardio and functional strength. So you still get conditioning, but it sits inside a program built to make you stronger, not just more tired.
What kind of results to expect
If your main goal is to sweat, burn calories, and get your heart rate up in a fun group setting, Orangetheory delivers that. Where a lot of people get frustrated is when they have been going for months, they are working hard, and their body composition has not really changed.
That usually comes down to two things: not enough progressive resistance to build muscle, and no nutrition plan attached. Building the lean, strong look most people are after takes muscle, and muscle comes from lifting progressively heavier over time. We explained the mechanics in our post on strength training versus cardio for fat loss.
With Sasquatch, the results are tracked. You get InBody scans, unlimited with your membership, so you can see muscle going up and fat coming down instead of guessing. If you want to understand those numbers, here is our guide to reading your InBody scan.
Coaching and personalization
In a typical Orangetheory class, one coach leads a room and calls out the workout. It is motivating, but the plan is the same for everyone and nobody is adjusting your specific weights or watching your form rep by rep.
At Sasquatch, you follow a program built for you, and coaches correct your form and push you when you have more in the tank. You track your own numbers so you can see progress, and the coaching guides every step. You show up, follow the program, and do not have to think about what to do next. We handle that.
Nutrition
This is the biggest gap for most cardio-based gyms. Orangetheory does not include nutrition coaching. Sasquatch does, on the 52-Week, 24-Week, and 12-Week tiers, because training and nutrition together are what actually change your body. You can lift perfectly and still stall if your eating is not supporting the work. Here is how our nutrition coaching works.
Which one is right for you?
Choose Orangetheory if you mostly want a fun, high-energy cardio class and you are not focused on building strength or changing your body composition.
Choose Sasquatch if you want to get genuinely stronger, build muscle, lose fat, and have coaching plus nutrition that adds up to visible, trackable results. And you only need three sessions a week to get there, which we broke down in our post on whether three days a week is really enough.
We have gyms in Redmond and Sammamish, so if you are coming from Bellevue or Issaquah you are a short drive away. We also coach members remotely anywhere in the US.
Frequently asked questions
Is Orangetheory good for weight loss?
It can help you burn calories, but without progressive strength training and a nutrition plan, many people find their body composition stalls. Fat loss that lasts usually needs both.
Will I still get cardio at Sasquatch?
Yes. Our Sprint and Move workout types cover conditioning and functional cardio. The difference is that it sits inside a strength program instead of being the whole thing.
Do I need to already be strong to start at Sasquatch?
No. Coaches meet you at your level, teach the movements, and progress you safely from there.
How is progress measured?
Through your own logged numbers in training and unlimited InBody scans that show muscle and fat changes over time, so you are not relying on the scale alone.
Can I train with Sasquatch if I do not live nearby?
Yes. Along with our Redmond and Sammamish gyms, we offer remote coaching anywhere in the US.
