Sasquatch vs CrossFit: Which One Builds Real Strength?

CrossFit gets a lot right. It built a culture around working hard, showing up, and training with other people instead of alone with headphones in. If you are deciding between a CrossFit box and Sasquatch, you are already asking the right question, because both beat a regular gym membership you never use. The difference comes down to what you are training for and how the work is coached. Here is an honest look.
What CrossFit does well
CrossFit is community first. The class energy is real, the workouts are hard, and people get fit. For a lot of folks, the group setting is exactly the push they needed. It also exposes you to a wide range of movements, from barbells to gymnastics to conditioning.
If what you want is intensity and a tight community, a good box with good coaches delivers that. We are not here to talk anyone out of it.
Where the approaches differ
The main difference is structure. A classic CrossFit workout is the same for the whole class that day, scored and often done for time. That is great for intensity, but it means the programming is built around the workout of the day rather than around your specific progress on specific lifts.
At Sasquatch, your program is built around you. We train five distinct qualities on a rotation, Build for heavy strength, Grind for endurance, Skill for technique, Sprint for power, and Move for conditioning, and your coach decides the mix based on your goal. You can read how those fit together in is three days a week really enough. The point is that progressive overload on your lifts is planned, not left to chance on whatever the board says that morning.
Coaching and form
In a busy CrossFit class, one coach might be watching fifteen people move fast under fatigue. That works for experienced members. It is harder on beginners, and it is where form can slip when the clock is running.
Our model puts coaching at the center. Coaches guide you, correct your form, and push you, and you track your own numbers so progress is measured, not guessed. The goal is that you move well first and move heavy second, which is what keeps you training for decades instead of getting hurt and quitting.
Scoring versus progress
CrossFit motivates through the scoreboard. Some people love that. Others find that chasing a fast time pushes them to sacrifice technique, which catches up with them eventually.
We measure progress differently. You track your weights, your reps, and your body composition, and we give you unlimited InBody scans so you can see what is actually changing underneath. For how to read one, see what an InBody scan actually tells you. The win is you getting stronger and leaner over months, not beating the person next to you on a Tuesday.
Which one is right for you
If you thrive on competitive intensity and a packed class, CrossFit might be your thing. If you want a program built around your goals, coaching that watches your form, nutrition handled alongside training, and steady measurable progress without the injury risk that comes from racing the clock, that is what we do.
Plenty of our members came to us from a box. They liked the hard work and wanted the structure and coaching to match it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sasquatch easier than CrossFit?
No. The work is hard. The difference is that intensity is applied on purpose and scaled to you, rather than every day being an all-out race. You will be challenged, you will just also be coached.
Do you do group classes or one on one?
Coaching is the core of what we do, with your program built for you. We have gyms in Redmond and Sammamish, plus remote coaching anywhere in the US. Get on a call and we will walk you through how it works.
I am coming from CrossFit and have some nagging aches. Can you help?
Yes. A lot of people come to us wanting to keep training hard while cleaning up movement that got sloppy under the clock. Skill work is built into the program for exactly that reason.
Will I still get a hard workout and a sweat?
Absolutely. Sprint and Move days bring the conditioning and intensity. You just get them as part of a plan instead of in isolation.
